Past and present Tamworth Co-operative Society staff gathered for a celebratory meal at the Moat House to bid a fond farewell to retiring funeral manager Amanda Woodward.
Tamworth Co-op chairman Bob Read formally presented her with a gift of jewellery on behalf of the Society, while friends and colleagues also showered her with presents.
In his after-dinner speech, chief executive Julian Coles said it was extremely hard for him to summarise Amanda’s contribution and achievements.
“You have continually implemented new ideas, but there has never been any compromise in our standards,” he said.
“I don’t really want to use that Covid word again, but the last couple of years have been so challenging. You led your teams through those unprecedented times, when any number of factors were changing on an almost daily basis. You did a tremendous job in conditions that we would have previously thought impossible until you and your team got us through it.
“I know the Society would not be in the excellent position it is now without the contribution that you have made.
“Both personally and professionally I will miss you greatly.”
Amanda, who served Tamworth Co-operative Society for 30 years, will be spending her retirement in Spain.
