Tamworth Co-operative Funeral Service’s elegant and self-contained catering suite offers a waitress service

A funeral is a sad, sombre occasion, of course, but it offers the opportunity for family members who may not have seen each other for some time to catch up on news and exchange memories.

This is why we felt it was important, as part of our comprehensive service, to have private facilities for mourners to relax and talk with one another after the formality of the funeral proceedings.

The Mews Catering Suite is the ideal place for the reception, providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere where relatives and friends can enjoy refreshments.

It is a spacious, elegant room, suitable for up to 60 people, with a fully licensed bar and its own private entrance.

At one end of the room there are comfortable settees to sink into, whilst music can be provided on request.

We have a range of buffet menus, varying in price, from which you can choose. These include freshly made sandwiches and homemade cakes, plus tea and coffee, or you can opt simply for tea and coffee with biscuits. Whatever menu you choose, we like to do things in style, bringing out our best china for the day.

We also have various options for other drinks, from a full sherry reception on arrival to wines, beers and spirits served from the bar. Drinks are reasonably priced and a waitress service is available too.

Friendly bar staff and waitresses are on hand to make sure guests have everything they need from the moment they walk through the door. Our trained funeral directors and arrangers are also just a step away if you or any of your party need help or advice.

The self-contained suite is conveniently situated at Tamworth Co-operative Funeral Service’s main premises in Upper Gungate, with parking outside.

The Mews Catering Suite is recognised for its excellence

In 2016, The Mews Catering Suite was recognised for its excellence in the annual Good Funeral Awards, which are regarded as the funeral industry’s ‘Oscars.’ Tamworth Co-operative Society was runner-up in the Best Funeral Caterer category, beating off competition from some of the largest funeral firms in the country, including Levertons, the Royal funeral directors.
